It turns out that if you delete the 768 width files from the server, the pages will automatically load the real size images instead, so those articles still have their images in place, with the images being the real ones rather than the ones that WordPress resized.

Apparently 768 wide is some sort of a weird default that WordPress resizes the images to, even when it is supposedly set not to!

So it is good to know that my system wasn’t tampered with to make it have that result.. but still that is really weird for it to do that.  Obviously that size must have been an intentional decision on someone’s part.

So tomorrow I’ll fix that as well as the images.  For the time being many of the articles don’t have images with them.

Anyway as I was saying it will be good to be back in a realm where there is communication about things.  I’m really curious about what has been happening and what people think about everything.

I’ve been updating a lot of new images to OpenMindedRealism using WordPress, and I’ve found a strange and disturbing situation with it.  After I’ve been uploading the images they were sometimes being resized to be 768 pixels wide, with their file name being appended with the dimensions, such as “blah_blah_image-768×500.jpg”!

So I looked into it, and it turns out that MANY of the images had that width!  Somehow the system got set to resize them to be that way if they are larger than that, including new ones I uploaded yesterday!  So I looked into it and it turns out that WordPress can be set to resize in such a matter, but the settings were not currently set for it to do it to that size even though it happened yesterday.

So what does that mean?  Was it was set set to do that, but not any longer?  Presumably it means that my account was compromised somehow and someone set it to do that— that’s really frightening!  I can’t imagine that 768 would be some sort of a default setting.

I’ve gone through and taken out all the images with those widths.

I’m really in a strange situation.  It’s a bummer to not have communication about things, it makes everything very difficult.  People who know me know that I’m interested in what people think.

I’ve been continuing to fix the content on the websites, and I’ve moved the “Surprising Facts About Islam” article from Open Minded Realism to NOITV today.   I’m going to start posting new articles to OMR again for a while as I’m working on the programming of NOITV, and tomorrow I will move some of the articles from this site (Sketchspace) to OMR as well.   I hope all is well.

I’ve fixed other issues that I’ve found on the surface of the global warming article.  I think it’s looking good now but there are also a few other issues that I’m working on.  Believe it or not, I made it so long ago that it was right when Obama first got into office.  I would have stuck with working on that but Obama started doing so many insane things that I shifted my focus to that instead.  There are other articles that I was planning to make that I think would have additionally helped to inform people who are falsely convinced that global warming is some sort of a problem, I will make some of them soon.

I keep finding issues with articles on NOITV and fixing them.  It’s really embarrassing to have to post “this article has been revamped” on so many of them, but the site is looking a lot better though.  I’ve revamped the entire global warming article, it looks really good now.  There are other articles that I’m in the process of fixing too.

I updated some video embedding scripts a while ago and it caused issues that cascaded through the website that I didn’t realize, so I’ve been fixing that issue as well.  I’m usually more careful when I make changes like that.  I also notice the “popup window” links on the videos can be buggy, and I notice that some MP3s have problems opening in iTunes, and it turns out the reason is because iTunes is very finicky about the compression that is used for audio files.  So that will just be a matter of batch-processing all of the MP3 files to be a consistent compression.  I have a list of such issues that I’m about to fix.  Most of all I’m anxious to get to focusing on the programming tasks that I have planned, it will make updating the site much more efficient.

Things are coming along well with what I’ve been working on..  I’ve been finding myself cleaning up many of the NOITV articles as I’ve been posting things, I didn’t realize how broken some of them were.  Many of them are over ten years old!  I think it’s great that the site has essentially no “filler”— it’s all very important information presented in a concentrated manner.  It’s sort of a “Cliffs Notes” of information that is suppressed by the Establishment media.  My forcing myself to put a different article at the beginning of the blog stream every day has been a good catalyst for repairing the articles as I’ve been going along.  I think the site is looking a lot better.

My focus on cleaning the content has been a good thing, but it has been distracting me from the programming tasks that I would like to do.  I’m anxious to implement many functionalities because it will make updating the site much more efficient.  So I think soon I’m going to stop updating the blog stream every day for the time being and just focus entirely on the programming, because once the new functionalities are implemented it will make adding and improving content much easier and quicker.  It’s “sharpening the saw”, as Stephen Covey said. ︎;-)

After the coming programming tasks are finished, the site will still not be able to be updated remotely, but I will eventually add that capability in the future as well.  That is a sort of a task that I hope to implement with the help of others after the resolution happens.  In the meantime a lot of the work that I’m about to do will additionally help to eventually incorporate the technical involvement of others.

As I’m working on NOITV I think I will start adding new articles I write to Open Minded Realism instead so I can focus on working on the technical aspects of NOITV more in the meantime.

Also I’m not doing the timing of things and I’m sticking with that. It’s very liberating not to do that.

I’ve been keeping busy with things, I notice that many of the NOITV articles have degraded over time so I’ve been fixing them, and I’m noticing grammar errors also, sometimes it is really bad!  The website is shaping up though.  I’m about to program away some “duct tape” that has been annoying me for years, it will be great when that is working.

It would be nice to eventually be able to delegate programming tasks.    I can think of a lot of great things that can be done, for example I would like to make NOITV more remotely updatable.  In any event my work is cut out for me in the meantime.  I hope all is well..

I went food shopping today and I got good amounts.  The “four” really showed up in the amounts.  The total was $94.70, and the checkout time was 10:47.  I’m not certain what the “4” means, but my address is 421 and today is 2/17, so clearly that is a trend.

My apartment is a mess because I’ve been renovating and I’ve been focused on working on the websites over the past few days.  I’ve just fixed my front buzzer and I’m about to start cleaning the apartment in case anyone decides to stop by.  It would be great if the resolution could happen today, I hope it does.  (Actually I’ll time the turning on of the porch light also if no one comes by the time it gets dark, and I’ll turn it off at 8:57.)  I hope all is well!
