I suppose it would be unfair to people who post videos on Twitter to “steal” from them and post their videos elsewhere, but it really is annoying to be expected by media outlets to be clicking into Twitter all the time to see them. Actually I wouldn’t feel bad about recording such videos off the screen with a video camera to show them elsewhere though— that’s how much I hate Twitter! Can’t those people post those videos somewhere better?
I do think Twitter should have the right to censor how it wants to though. I think the people who are in the wrong are the ones who use it despite disagreeing with how they censor. Twitter is just some service that lets people post comments, there are many similar services that people can use.
I can understand if people don’t want to use a service that allows people to be extremely bigoted and hostile, however. I think at least of degree of censorship can be important, people just need to find a service that has a censorship policy that they agree with.
And as I have said before, it is crucial that the underlying infrastructure of the internet isn’t allowed to censor in any way!— That is something that is completely different than a media company sitting on top of the infrastructure censoring as they wish.
